Estate Grown Wines of Kangaroo Island
A chance end-of-vintage fishing trip led to an opportunity we could not pass up to extend our wine vision from McLaren Vale to Kangaroo Island.
Located on Springs Road running east/west across the northern part of Kangaroo Island, South Australia, our vineyard was established on a small sheep property off Springs Road, about 7km west of Kingscote.
Originally established in 1994, Joch and Louise purchased the Springs Road property in 2016, releasing their first wines two years later.
Like all Bosworth Wines, our organic approach honours the wisdom of agricultural methods of the past and our labels reflect this, adapted from explorer and cartographer Louis Freycinet’s 1808 map of Southern Australia ‘Terre Napoleon’.

Follow the winding driveway through picturesque vineyards and sheep paddocks, keeping an eye out for our resident chooks and guinea fowl.
Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through tasting our exceptional wines, sharing the stories behind each bottle and the unique terroir of Kangaroo Island.

Enjoy a guided tasting of our estate grown Springs Road and little island wines which are made using grapes from our Kangaroo Island vineyards. You will have a taste of the Spring Seed Wine Co ‘Gypsy’ Organic Blanc de Blancs from our McLaren Vale vineyards, as a welcome to the Springs Road cellar door. This tasting includes a taste of the small volume super-premium barrel reserve ‘Terre Napoleon’ Shiraz. The tasting will be complemented by some cheese and crackers. You will take two of our Springs Road branded Spiegelau tasting glasses home with you, as part of the experience.
Food & Wine
After your tasting, enjoy the fresh island air, the sounds of nature, and the breathtaking views from our spacious deck with a build-your-own platter and a game of chess.

About Kangaroo Island
Australia’s third-largest island and one of its youngest wine regions, Kangaroo Island has built an international reputation as a pristine wilderness that is famed for the quality of its produce as well as its natural beauty and wildlife, Kangaroo Island wines are making an impact both domestically and abroad.
Kangaroo Island is one of the five regions that make up the Fleurieu Zone and was officially registered as a wine region by Geographic Indication in the year 2000. It is a cool-climate region with regular maritime breezes playing an important role in moderating the ample sunshine and allowing for a long, cool ripening season.
Our Vineyard
The vineyard is on a special site in a very special place. It has a unique combination of relatively low rainfall, low soil fertility and a moderate maritime climate which results in low yielding vines producing highly coloured and intensely flavoured wines. We have approximately 11 acres of Shiraz, just under 11 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and just about 3 acres of Chardonnay planted at Springs Road. These Kangaroo Island vineyards are a perfect fit for us in their pristine location on an island which is certified GMO free.
Joch has continued with his organic ways which began in 1995 in his Willunga vineyard. Springs Road is undergoing conversion to certified organic viticulture.
